You are expected to stop by the elephant orphanage in Pinnawala along the way. In Sri Lanka, Pinnawala is a unique location to watch elephants.
The facility was founded in 1975 by the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation to care for juvenile elephants that were abandoned and lost in the untamed woods. These lovely animals are adopted, raised, and reproduced in captivity. It is situated 13 kilometers northeast of Kegalle town in Pinnawala village. The world’s largest herd of captive elephants resides at the Pinnawala orphanage. Starting at 9 a.m. When is the best time to visit the orphanage. to 1 p.m. As a result, this is when young elephants are fed milk and given their regular bath. The chance for the visitors to observe these domesticated elephants playing and bathing in the surrounding river is fantastic.
On day two of your Sri Lanka 8 Days Sightseeing Tour, you will be traveling to the historic Sigiriya city. The Matale Hindu temple is the first stop on the trip, which also includes many other wonderful locations. The name “Muthumariamman Temple” for the Hindu temple in Matale is a combination of the names “Muthu” for “pearl,” “Mari” for “rain,” and “Amman” for “mother.” The goddess Mariamman, regarded as the patroness of rain and fertility, is the subject of the temple that was constructed in her honor. This temple is visited by both Buddhists and Hindus, and Hindu wedding ceremonies frequently take place in the temple’s wedding hall. The chariot festival, which is celebrated in March and is a tremendously lively event to watch, is the biggest religious celebration in the temple. The trip next takes you to the Matale spice garden, where you can stroll among the fragrant foliage and learn some important information about how to utilize spices to improve food, cosmetics, and medicine.
The Sigiriya rock is the next destination after the spice garden. The traveler can choose which of the two places to visit first. King Kashyapa chose the historic remains of a castle known as Sigiriya (Lion Rock) to serve as his new capital. The 180 m-tall rock is located close to Dambulla city. Then, Kashyapa erected an entrance halfway up King that had the appearance of a huge lion; this construction gave the big rock its name. Sigiriya is a UNESCO-listed world historical site. After the king’s death, the palace was abandoned and then utilized as a Buddhist monastery until the fourteenth century. The Rangiri Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Dambulla Golden Temple, which has been a revered pilgrimage site for more than 22 centuries, will be reached after that. It is thought to be Sri Lanka’s largest and best-preserved cave temple. There are 157 different murals, totaling up to 2100 m2, that are painted on the walls. Five caverns make up the cave. The caverns are constructed beneath a 150-meter-tall hanging rock. The cave temple is an amazing piece of geology. Following the restoration project, a 15-meter-tall monument and pagoda were constructed in 1982. In order to preserve the temple, UNESCO recognized it as a historic site. Then we will head back to Kandy for the night.
On day three, you will go to Nuwara Eliya, a lovely town situated in the Central Province’s highlands. The distance between Kandy and the “city of lights,” Nuwara Eliya, is 76 kilometers. Mountains, waterfalls, and beautiful vegetation may all be found during the journey into the highlands. After breakfast, our car will take you up to the hotel. One of Sri Lanka’s most popular tourist attractions, the Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), will be our first stop. It is a sacred location that is highly important to all Buddhists throughout the globe. It is the temple where the Buddha’s left canine tooth is revered. It was designated a treasure of global culture by UNESCO in 1988. The National Gems and Gemmological Museum, which will be our next stop, is a tourist site that also educates visitors about Sri Lanka’s 4.6-billion-year-old ancient past. Additionally, the museum has some of the world’s rarest minerals.
The Kandy Lake, often referred to as the Kiri Muhuda (“Sea of Milk”) by locals, is located right adjacent to the Dalada Maligawa. A fabricated lake that was created in 1807 by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe is located in the center of the city. The lake’s size has decreased with time. However, it is a protected lake where fishing is not permitted. It’s a nice area to go for a stroll. After that, we’ll travel to the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, a stunning destinationwith over 4,0000 different plant species spread across 147 acres of splendor. It is aboutt 5.5 kilometers from Kandy City. With the majestic Mahaweli River flowing through it, the area is tranquil and serene. Then we will stop near the 109-meter-tall Ramboda Falls, Sri Lanka’s eleventh-tallest waterfall (358 ft). Our next trip will be to the Damro Labookellie Tea Centre and Tea Garden, which is the country of Sri Lanka’s oldest tea institution. Then we will head directly to Nuwara Eliya for the night.
On the fourth day, you will go to the lovely Ella, a little village situated in the mountains of the Central Province. You will pass mountains, waterfalls, and lush flora on the journey to the highlands. During the trip to the quaint village of Ella, we’ll make a few notable stops, including Gregory Lake, where you can have a pony ride and enjoy a delectable lunch. We’ll then head to the Nuwara Eliya post office after that. It has a unique design and is one of Sri Lanka’s oldest post offices. The Seetha Amman Temple is the next location and is located in Sita Eliya, close to Nuwara Eliya. It is the sole Hindu shrine in Sri Lanka devoted to Princess Sita. It is one of the most important Sri Lankan Ramayana locations. The area’s soil is black in color; it is said that Lord Hanuman burned this area before leaving Sri Lanka. Lord Hanuman’s imprint is still discernible in a nearby creek.
Once there, you will board the train at Nanu Oya Railway Station after being driven there. It is one of the most romantic rail journeys in Sri Lanka. Taking in the stunning vistas of Sri Lanka’s beautiful green tea farms, mountains, bridges, valleys, and dense wilderness is a must-do activity. It’s also the best way to learn about Sri Lankan culture. Chat with other commuters, wave to kids running by the tracks, and eat the hot delicacies sold by the vendors who board the train at each station. You will be picked up from the Ella station and taken to your accommodation at the conclusion of the trip.
On this day you will travel most beautiful places in Ella and then you will travel to Yala National Park for an unforgettable wildlife safari.
In the morning, we will first visit Nine Arch Bridge. The Bridge in the Sky is another name for the Nine Arch Bridge. It is a building from the Colonial era with a viaduct bridge structure. Then, because of the similarities between the two summits, you will be taken to Little Adam’s Peak, also known as Mini Adam’s Peak or Little Sri Pada. An accessible climb to Little Adams Peak ascends a stunning peak covered with tea plantations, where you may observe people picking tea. The scenery of the thick jungles is breathtaking.
After that, we’ll be traveling to Yala while stopping at the Ravana Falls, also known as Ravana Ella and named for the mythical king Ravana. King Ravana, who then concealed her in a cave beneath the waterfall, allegedly took hostage Princess Sita. It is the country’s thickest fall. The waterfall takes on the appearance of an Areca blossom in the wetter months.
We will then head straight to Yala National Park, the nation’s second-largest national park and one that is flanked by the Indian Ocean, for your safari excursion. Only two of the park’s five blocks, Ruhunu and Kumana national parks, are accessible to the general public. Yala was designated as a refuge for animals in 1900.
You will be driven to the hotel for supper and a night’s stay after the safari.
On day six of your Sri Lanka 8 Days Sightseeing Tour, you will be taken directly to Mirissa. When you get to Mirissa, we’ll head to Coconut Tree Hill. Most likely, it is Mirissa’s most well-known location. There is a mineralized headland adjacent to the Indian Ocean near Mirissa. It takes around 10 to 15 minutes to walk along the beach from the street. When you reach the top, which provides a breathtaking view of the beach and Mirissa bay, you must snap a photo in this amazing frame. Following that, we’ll go to the fish market and the harbor to see fishers bring in their catches and conduct auctions. Before settling into your lodging for the evening, you might then wander the town.
We’ve scheduled a whale-watching tour for the seventh day to give you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view whales. These amazing creatures enable you to go fairly close to them. One of the most exhilarating water activities in Sri Lanka is whale and dolphin watching, which is possible at Mirissa. Blue whales, killer whales, sperm whales, fin whales, common dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, spinner dolphins, striped dolphins, and Risso’s dolphins are just a few of the marine species that call Sri Lanka’s warm seas home. From November through April, when the seas are calm and warm, is the best time to watch whales. We’ll travel to Bentota after that.
On the way to Bentota, we will pass via Galle and make a stop to view the famous Galle Fort, which is situated on the Galle Coast. It was constructed by the Portuguese in 1588, and the Dutch refurbished it beginning in 1649. Despite being in existence for more than 432 years, it still has a spectacular look, and it is now regarded as a significant architectural monument. The Turtle Hatchery Farm in Galle, which seeks to improve the toughness of the young turtles, will be the location of our upcoming excursion. A guide will meet you at the main entrance and give you a tour of the structure. Then, we’ll go to the lovely Madu River in Balapitiya town to go boating. The neighboring creek creates a number of islands, and the area’s biological system also creates a magnificent wetland. It is the conclusion of the day, so you will be transported to the hotel.
On the eighth day of your fantastic Sri Lanka 8 Days Sightseeing Tour, our guide will pick you up from the hotel and take you back to Colombo or the airport in time for your flight home. You organized a terrific and delightful eight-day trip with Lanka Budget Tours.
